Underwater vehicle GNOM explores the winter spawning whitefish

09 November 2016

A report was published containing the results of the search and inspection of spawning grounds for whitefish in the Curonian Lagoon using the GNOM underwater remote-controlled video complex.

The conducted studies allowed instrumental confirmation of the existence of the whitefish breeding ground near Rybachy village. A unique experience of using underwater video registration for ecological and hydrobiological purposes was obtained for the Curonian Lagoon. A research methodology has been developed in the winter season. The results will allow to plan the research and use the underwater complex GNOM with a complete set of attachments and systems for determining the location of the complex in a wide range of environmental and hydrobiological studies in the future in all seasons of the year.
